In many industrial sectors, such as manufacturing and logistics, complex optimization problems arise that so far can only be solved with considerable effort involving conventional computing resources. Finding an efficient solution to these has a direct impact on key aspects such as profit, material consumption and sustainability. Quantum computing offers a promising opportunity to address these challenges faster and more efficiently. We are already using quantum computers to study optimization issues in industrial use cases and to identify ways for finding corresponding solutions efficiently.
Our research focuses on improving existing quantum algorithms for optimization purposes. We are also conducting research on new methods and developing approaches to make quantum optimization more efficient. In doing so, we always keep an eye on the practical application at hand, thus creating the necessary synergies between research and industry.
