The ExoHaptik project aims to support caregiving relatives and professional caregivers in their care activities, while preserving their own health. It focuses on the development of a system that simulates different living environments via multi-user-mixed-reality (MR) in order to make renovation measures in private homes more efficient and to improve the training of caregivers via MR technology. One of the main technical tasks, led by the Department of Biomechatronic Systems at Fraunhofer IPA, is the development of a haptic output device in the form of an exoskeleton, which shall give caregivers a realistic feeling of strain, with the perspective to be used as a training device. All the development steps are considered, constructively discussed and thought through from an ethical perspective.
