ROSIN – Quality-assured ROS-Industrial software components for use in robotics

In short

Open source software has already become firmly established in the scientific world and also offers added value for industrial applications. The worldwide initiative  ROS-Industrial is therefore dedicated to promoting the Robot Operating System ROS. The ROSIN project strengthens the EU's role in ROS-Industrial in order to consolidate Europe's leading role in manufacturing technologies.

In detail

ROSIN will greatly improve the availability of high-end intelligent software components for robotics. The project will achieve this goal through building on the existing Robot Operating System ROS and by involving the worldwide developer community.

To this end, the project partners are pursuing three main activities:

  • Ensuring software quality ready for industrial use
  • Allocating 30 percent of the project budget to users and developers of industry-related applications for so-called Focused Technical Projects (FTP)
  • Providing further education for students and industrial partners, as well as contributing part of the project budget to Education Projects (EP)
