Open source software has already become firmly established in the scientific world and also offers added value for industrial applications. The worldwide initiative ROS-Industrial is therefore dedicated to promoting the Robot Operating System ROS. The ROSIN project strengthens the EU's role in ROS-Industrial in order to consolidate Europe's leading role in manufacturing technologies.
ROSIN will greatly improve the availability of high-end intelligent software components for robotics. The project will achieve this goal through building on the existing Robot Operating System ROS and by involving the worldwide developer community.
To this end, the project partners are pursuing three main activities:
Duration: January 1st 2017 to December 31st 2020
Funding: this project is funded by the European Union as part of the "Horizon 2020" research and innovation initiative under the number 732287. The total EU funding amounts to 7,504,236 EUR.
Project partners: Delft University of Technology (Netherlands, project coordination), Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, IT University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Fundacion Tecnalia Research and Innovation (Spain), ABB AB (Sweden).
