Sawing processes are highly effective. However, when used in industry, there is a constant demand for even better performance –thinner blades, higher speeds, lower cutting forces, etc. We offer a possible solution approach using ultrasonic-assisted sawing.
By combining ultrasound technology with circular saw processes, machining forces can often be significantly reduced. On the one hand, this enables thinner circular saw tools to be implemented which reduces. On the other hand, higher machining feed rates are achievable, which increases material throughputs and decreases machine operating times. Both approaches cut machining costs and make circular saw processes more cost-efficient.
Fraunhofer IPA has extensive expertise in developing and designing the necessary machine technology and in further developing circular saw tools. We simulate machining and cutting processes and implement the new technology in facilities for customers and partners.
